bombarded by commercials about gambling. >> these tv spots are chock full of claims. we have a fact check. david? >> $2 million and counting. that is what the casino industry has spent in the baltimore market on tv ads. have they told the truth? >> lots of promises. >> the tv advertising is costly, contentious, and full of conflicting claims. this at opposes adding a sixth gambling site in the state. >> millions of dollars for students and teachers. >> but not really. there is no obligation to use the revenues in classrooms. >> that claim is misleading. the mandate says that a

percentage goes to the state education trust fund. conceivably gambling dollars could replace general fund dollars earmarked for education, freeing in up to be used for other things. but state analysts say this is not a budget option in fiscal year 2013. >> thousands of new, good paying jobs. >> we have heard this promise before. >> this is another misleading claim. is based on a complaint from -- is based on a complaint from minority contractors. it has nothing to do with high- paying jobs, but rather that local contractors did not get much of the work. this ad supporting expanding gambling -- the job claims are exaggerated. the department of legislative services estimates a total of 2340 good paying full-time jobs. not 4000.

other so-called back of the house employees may make slightly more. only 10% of the jobs will be supervisors. >> this casino is in west virginia. >> this ad claims that taxpayers will save money. is also misleading. cutting casino subsidies is a reference to a provision that shifts the ownership. expanding gambling -- gambling bill gives them a tax break to do that. millions are being spent because fortune stand to be gained or lost of current casino aboutors' predictions over-saturation come true. ground-breaking has not even begun for baltimore city's casino. wbal-tv 11 news. >> the sons of the original
